Paid recipe books

Cookping's paid recipe-book workflow is open as a public beta. Creators can assemble published recipes into chapters, preview the complete reader and bilingual PDF, connect their own Polar account, choose a tax-inclusive EUR price, and publish within their plan's allowance.

What is included

  • Public previews expose titles and storefront information without exposing recipe content or links.
  • Books are sold through each creator's own Polar organization. Polar is the seller of record: it takes the payment, adds the VAT, sends the receipt, delivers the PDF, handles refunds and pays the creator out. Cookping takes no commission and never holds the money.
  • Buying opens Polar's checkout on the sales page itself, in French; the download link arrives in Polar's receipt email and stays in the buyer's Polar customer portal.
  • The Books dashboard reports privacy-preserving preview views, current sales, gross revenue, the same before VAT, and conversion, mirrored from Polar's order events.
  • Published-book limits are Free 0, Starter 3, Creator 10, and unlimited on Pro and Studio.

What changed on 11 September 2026

The first version processed payments itself through Stripe Connect and kept a 10% fee. That made Cookping the seller of record for VAT purposes, which does not fit a subscription business run by a sole proprietor. Selling moved to Polar; the personal access links and the in-app buyer reader of the first version are gone, since Polar delivers the file.

Availability

This note is not a general-availability announcement. Production selling stays off until Cookping's Polar application is enabled in production and the sandbox rehearsal and launch checklist have been completed. Refunds are handled by the creator in Polar.
