Recipe books & selling

Recipe books turn your published Cookping recipes into an ordered collection with a cover, introduction, chapters, and conclusion. You can draft books on every plan. When selling is enabled, every paid plan can publish and sell books, up to its own allowance:

  • Free — 0 published books · draft only.
  • Starter — Up to 3 published books · public beta.
  • Creator — Up to 10 published books · public beta.
  • Pro — Unlimited published books · public beta.
  • Studio — Unlimited published books · public beta.

The limit counts books currently published. If your plan lapses or you move below the allowance, affected sales pages stay online but the buy button goes away until you are back within your allowance. Existing buyers keep their downloads at Polar.

Build and publish

  1. Open Books, create a draft, and add only your published recipes.
  2. Arrange up to 20 chapters and 100 recipes. A recipe can appear once in a book.
  3. Preview the complete reader and PDF before publishing.
  4. Connect your Polar account from Settings → Selling with Polar. Polar is where your books are sold: it takes the payment, adds the VAT, sends the receipt, delivers the PDF and pays you out. Create your Polar account and organization first, choosing the euro as its currency; Cookping then connects to it. Polar reviews your account and verifies your identity before it accepts payments or pays you out; follow Get your Polar account approved for each step. Every book, including a free one, needs the connection.
  5. Either choose a tax-inclusive EUR price from €8.00 to €199.99 or give the book away for free, confirm you hold the rights to its recipes, then publish.

After publishing, Cookping renders the bilingual PDF and mirrors the book into your Polar account as a product with the file attached; the editor shows "Polar is preparing the product" until the buy button is live, usually within a couple of minutes. Changes to a published book require Save & republish, which uploads the new edition and updates the price on Polar. Unpublishing archives the product; past buyers keep their downloads.

Fees, sales, and payouts

Cookping takes no commission on book sales; books are part of your subscription. Polar charges its own per-sale fee on your organization (see Polar's pricing) and handles your payouts on its own terms, to the payout account you connect there. The Books dashboard shows preview views, sales that were not refunded, gross revenue (what buyers paid, VAT included), the same before VAT, and conversion from preview views to sales. View counters are buffered and can take about a minute to appear. Open Polar takes you to your Polar dashboard for orders, refunds, payouts and receipts.

Revenue totals are your sales as Polar reported them, before Polar's fee. They are operational figures, not tax or accounting advice.

Getting paid

Payouts happen entirely on Polar's side, under Polar's terms: its account review before a first payout, its settlement delay, its minimums, its per-payout fees, and its withdrawal flow. Cookping is not in that money flow and promises nothing about when or how you are paid.

Before your first payout, the Selling with Polar card in Settings lists the steps Polar is still waiting on. Everything after that — balance, withdrawals, schedules and fees — lives in your Polar dashboard, behind Open Polar, and is documented by Polar.

What buyers see

The public preview shows the cover, author (with the bio from your settings), introduction, conclusion, chapter names, recipe titles, price, and availability. It never links to the member recipes or exposes their content — the recipes themselves are what buyers pay for. Buy opens Polar's checkout on the page itself, in French. Polar collects the email address and the payment, then emails the receipt with the download link; the file stays available in the buyer's Polar customer portal. A free book goes through the same checkout at €0. Cookping never sees the buyer's details and does not deliver the file itself.

A buyer who lost the email finds the download link in the receipt from Polar. Refunds are handled in your Polar dashboard. Public preview views count toward conversion analytics.

Availability and launch requirements

Selling is available where Cookping's Polar integration is enabled. Before a creator can sell, their Polar connection has to be complete (organization, checkout embedding and sales reporting set up, all done by Cookping when you connect); Polar's account review happens on Polar's side before the first payout. Polar's terms, receipt and withdrawal wording apply to every purchase, because Polar is the seller of record.
